Mission Statement

To develop and sustain a credible, effective organisation that provides the opportunity for anyone to participate and to reach their personal goals in a safe, healthy and enjoyable environment.

Objectives

• To increase the numbers participating in DanceSport at all levels
• To encourage, develop and preserve a high standard of performance and integrity in the Coaching, Adjudication, Administration and Management areas of DanceSport
• To serve the community by promoting and communicating the benefits and merits of DanceSport
• To recognise and reward contributions to DanceSport within South Australia
• To liaise with South Australian Government departments where necessary or desirable
• To liaise with any organisation or bodies with like interests or objectives

The business of DanceSport South Australia is the provision of sports development and management services to the DanceSport community and to the general public in South Australia.

Current Operations

• Provision of quality DanceSport administration and management services on behalf of its members
• Implement national policies and procedures in South Australia
• Review of potential projects for South Australian implementation
• Administer the accreditation process for Coaches and Adjudicators, including both new applications and upgrades
• Conduct Adjudicator Accreditation Courses
• Conduct Coach Accreditation Courses
• Produce a quarterly newsletter for distribution to all members
• Maintain a web site for access by both member and the general public
• Represent DanceSport South Australia at meetings/committees/seminars/forums
• Communicate with its members, owner / operators of dance schools, industry peak bodies, the general public, and other interested parties
• Invite experts from overseas and interstate to speak at workshops
• Provision of workshops and forums

MARKET ANALYSIS
National Environment

• (company limited by guarantee), the recognised National Sporting Organisation for DanceSport, was formed in 1998 from two bodies representing Competitors and Dance Teaching Organisations respectively.  DanceSport South Australia is a Branch operating under the constitution of DanceSport Australia
• DanceSport Australia is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission, and is also a member of the International DanceSport Federation, Australian Olympic Committee, and Sports Industry Australia
• DanceSport is a sport recognised by the IOC, the International Body IDSF has lodged an application for inclusion as a Program sport in future Olympic Games

Economic Environment

• DanceSport South Australia has received funding from the South Australian Department of Sport and Recreation for the 2004-2007 funding period, and is also partially funded by DanceSport Australia through the registration of members
• DanceSport South Australia must provide services for its members which are seen to provide value for money, and competitive with the many other sports which are competing for participants
• The economic impact of local competitions has in the past, and will in the future, bring benefit to the state by way of tourism.  For example through travel to SA and accommodation
